In case you’re new in the jailbreak community, you must be unfamiliar with the legendary hacker Yiduo David Wang better known as PlanetBeing. This popular hacker, PlanetBeing, was (and still) one of the most important members in the iPhone Dev Team. PlanetBeing was responsible for many achievements in the jailbreak community in the last few years. However, PlanetBeing was away from the community for more than a year.
Almost all PlanetBeing works were about “Linux on the iPhone”. Most of his work was related to bringing Android on the iPhone and iOS deivces. His most known achievement for jailbreakers was releasing the first iPhone 4 unlock in August 2010. He has excited Twitter since these days.
For the iPhone recently with Saurik too.
Anyway, the good news today is that PlanetBeing, after 503 days of silence, has came out with a tweet to announce a slight progress on A5 untethered jailbreak.
His tweet today informs the community that the A5 untethered jailbreak is now out of the sandbox, that’s a great progress!
He mentioned “X-Gold 618″ in his tweet. This is a reference to the iPhone 4 baseband chip that planetbeing helped to unlock.
The A5 untethered jailbreak should have been released last week but it looks like the jailbreak is more difficult than it was thought. The legendary iPhone hacker p0sixninja informed iDownloadBlog with the following quotes:
All blocking issues have been solved. We just need to integrate things now.
This is a very complicated jailbreak with lots of interworking parts.
We’re getting sooner everyday to the first iPhone 4S jailbreak. And a jailbreak for newsletter here to be provided with the latest progress on A5 untethered jailbreak.
As a side note, and as most of you know, pod2g’s A4 untethered jailbreak has been released two weeks ago. If you haven’t jailbroken your device yet, you can use our guide posted here to jailbreak 5.0.1 untethered.
